When most people think about a baptism, we think about a young child. He is anointed with the Holy Water of the church and cradled by his godparents. Picturing a grown person seems a little strange…
…but that is wrong.
The fact is anyone of any age can be baptised or christened. The church welcomes all true believers into it’s flock. What matters is not the age of the person but the reasons behind the christening.
Of course here in England most christenings are done for babies. But for example, we posted about a 90 year old gentleman who was christened.
The only difference is for an adult getting christened you can ignore most of the etiquette for babies. There is no need for godparents, gowns, or christening presents for them.
