Some Interesting Christening Traditions

Lots of us have been to a christening. Everyone has their own unique family traditions that they do on these days. But there are some traditions that seem widespread during a christening. Do you or your loved follow any of these?

Silver christening presents – Such a fine tradition! This dates back to the 1800s, or even earlier according to some people. Many of the gifts we sell are silver because of this.

Almonds – Many families have a bowl of almonds for after the christening. Some are chocolate covered. Other are just almonds naturally. But a common theme is having almonds for the guests to eat.

Sponge Cake – Such a wonderful dessert! You can serve sponge cake after the baptism ceremony as a treat.

Pound Coin on Champagne – For those families who enjoy champagne on a special occasion, perhaps a family member does this. There is a superstition that during a happy family party, if you put a coin over 20p on the champagne it is good luck.
